Russia’s President has blamed the West for provoking the war in Ukraine during a nationwide address

A year ago, Ukraine’s President warned a war in Ukraine would not stay in Ukraine.

However, the narrative and conflict continues to shift.

In Moscow, President Vladimir Putin has delivered a State of the Nation address.

He said the West is to blame for provoking the war and escalating it.

“The elites of the West do not hide their purpose. But they also cannot fail to realise that it is impossible to defeat Russia on the battlefield,” he said.

Meanwhile in Poland, U.S. President Joe Biden delivered a rallying cry against Putin. He said “Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia.”

“One year ago, the world was bracing for the fall of Kyiv. Well, I’ve just come from a visit to Kyiv and I can report Kyiv stands strong. Kyiv stands proud, it stands tall and most important, it stands free,” President Biden said.

The speeches come ahead of the first anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on Friday.
